Threonic acid (threonic acid)
Synopsis
Threonic acid is a naturally occurring sugar acid formed during the metabolism of vitamin C (ascorbic acid). It is known for enhancing mineral absorption—especially magnesium—and is a key component of magnesium L-threonate, a compound studied for its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and support cognitive function. Threonic acid may also play a role in collagen synthesis and cellular detoxification.
