A girlfriend recommended clove oil for my teething three month old. She said to apply it directly to her gums. It this safe? Should I dilute the oil?

Clove oil does contain natural compounds that can reduce pain when applied topically.  It has a long history of use in dental care primarily for relieving the pain associated with toothaches.  However, it is very important that the clove essential oil be prepared properly or else it can create many more problems than it will […]

What can I do about hay fever?

Have you ever experienced bouts of sneezing, itchy eyes, and a runny nose? You may be one of the more than 35 million people that have been diagnosed with “allergic rhinitis” (seasonal allergies or hay fever). Conventional pharmaceutical treatment options for allergies are limited to decongestants and antihistamines which come with unwanted side effects like […]

What can you tell me about diet and colicky babies?

Did you know that the type of food your children eat directly impacts their ability to learn and focus? With school in session it’s important to have quick, easy, healthy, and kid friendly food choices at hand. Recent studies have shown that children who skip or eat unhealthy breakfasts have an increased risk of obesity, […]

I need to know if combining valerian tincture with albuterol sulfateinhalation aerosol would have negative side effects on a child 4 years old. Also, what is the recommended safe dose of valerian in tincture non alcohol form for him? Thanks!

There are no known interactions between Valerian and albuterol inhalers.  Most of Valerian’s potential interactions occur with other prescription sedatives.  However, if you want to be safe, start the supplementation with Valerian at a very low dose.  A normal dose for the average 4 year old would be 30 drops 1-2x daily.  You might start […]

A girlfriend recommended clove oil for my teething three month old. She said to apply it directly to her gums. It this safe? Should I dilute the oil? How much and how often?

I have a 15 yr old son who has been diagnosed with ADD. His doctor prescribed meds for him 4 yrs ago and within that same year I stopped him from taking them. I would like to go with natural herbs, would using the Focus Formula Liquid and the Brain Pep be too much or should I stick with having him taking just one type and which would be better?

The Focus Formula is a great place to start to provide key nutrients to support improved focus and concentration.  The B vitamin family is very important as are the blend of phospholipids such as Phosphatidyl choline and Phosphatidyl serine.  These are vital to lipid membranes of the brain and neurological system.  The formula also contains DMAE, a compound […]

I started using 5HTP for my 12 year old son who has trouble sleeping. He has never been a good sleeper even as a baby. He also likes carbs a lot. Is this safe for him? If not, why not and do you have another supplement that might be better for his age? Thank you!

Hi! As a parent of 4, I totally understand your concerns! Have you tried to check him for food sensitivities? Most of the time, checking for and changing their diet will have a great impact on their health! Food allergy testing comes in different forms, and please don’t have the scratching test done… it only […]

I am considering purchasing the liquid focus formula for my daughter age 10, but I dont know if I need to quit giving her other supplements. Right now, she takes a multivite, Omega3 caps, and a fruitveggie supplement. I used to give her Neuromaxx along with these things, but have quit doing so, as it was minimal in its help. What about your formula? Will she o.d. on anything if I continue with the others plus the focus formula?

Thank you for your question.   Although some of the ingredients in the focus formula may be redundant to other supplements you are giving her, particularly the multivitamin, there is no nutrient that poses any significant danger of overdose.  The group of vitamins most likely to overlap is the B-vitamins.  All B-vitamin are water soluble and […]

I’ve purchased your Focus Formula for my daughter 6 and believe it really helps her. During my neuro studies I learned more about the critical learning period and how the body shuts down that phase by releasing large amounts of Acetylcholine. I’m wondering if you could clarify for me what the likeness is between Phosphatidyl Choline and Acetylcholine. I’m also interested in what measure is considered too much by your company. I really love your product and appreciate learning more. Thanks. Lisa

Lisa, I am not sure the information you have is entirety correct.  Let’s review some information about acetylcoholine and its role in memory and learning from a Neuro textbook. “Acetylcholine enhances the activity of various cortical neurons, causing suppression of membrane potassium currents and thereby causing depolarization and suppression of adaptation. This could certainly enhance […]
