Rosavins are a group of compounds found primarily in Rhodiola rosea, a plant traditionally used in Russia, Scandinavia, and other parts of Europe and Asia for its adaptogenic properties. Adaptogens are natural substances believed to help the body resist physical, chemical, and biological stressors. The use of Rosavins (as part of Rhodiola extracts) to support adrenal gland function is rooted in both traditional medicine and emerging scientific evidence. Several clinical and preclinical studies suggest that Rhodiola, standardized to contain Rosavins, may help modulate the body's stress response, which is closely linked to adrenal gland activity. Research indicates that Rhodiola supplementation may reduce fatigue, improve mental performance under stress, and regulate cortisol levels—the primary hormone produced by the adrenal cortex during stress. However, while these effects have been observed, the direct impact on adrenal gland health per se is mostly inferred, as most studies measure stress response and fatigue rather than direct adrenal function. Overall, scientific evidence supports the use of Rosavins-containing Rhodiola extracts for improving stress resilience and mitigating stress-induced fatigue, which indirectly supports adrenal function. The evidence base is moderate, with several randomized controlled trials and reviews, but more direct studies on adrenal health are warranted.
