Some clinical studies have explored these effects, with a few reporting modest reductions in body weight and appetite in overweight or obese individuals taking standardized extracts. For example, randomized, placebo-controlled trials have found that supplementation with Phaseolus vulgaris extract can result in a statistically significant, though small, reduction in self-reported appetite and subsequent food intake, possibly due to delayed carbohydrate absorption and increased satiety hormones.
