Ethyl-Alpha-Guanido-Methyl-Ethanoate is the IUPAC name for creatine ethyl ester, a derivative of creatine. Creatine, in various forms, is extensively researched and widely used as an ergogenic aid in athletic and exercise contexts. Numerous peer-reviewed studies have demonstrated that creatine supplementation enhances high-intensity exercise capacity and increases lean body mass during training. The mechanism involves increased phosphocreatine availability in muscle, which helps rapidly regenerate ATP, the primary energy carrier in cells, during short bursts of intense activity.

The traditional and most studied form is creatine monohydrate, but other forms like creatine ethyl ester have been marketed with claims of improved absorption. However, scientific evidence does not show that creatine ethyl ester has superior efficacy compared to creatine monohydrate; in fact, some studies suggest it may be less effective due to faster conversion to creatinine.
