Eurycomanone is a major quassinoid compound found in the roots of Eurycoma longifolia (commonly known as Tongkat Ali), a plant traditionally used in Southeast Asia. Recent scientific studies have explored its potential as an athletic and exercise aid, primarily by investigating its influence on testosterone levels, muscle strength, and physical performance. Research indicates that Eurycomanone may enhance endogenous testosterone production by inhibiting aromatase and phosphodiesterase, thereby supporting anabolic activity and potentially benefiting athletic performance. Several small-scale human clinical trials and animal studies have reported improvements in muscle strength, body composition, and endurance after supplementation with Eurycoma longifolia extracts, which are standardized for Eurycomanone content. However, the overall quality of evidence is limited by small sample sizes, short durations, and variability in extract composition.
