Canadian Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis) has a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine, especially for supporting the urinary tract and bladder health. Indigenous peoples of North America and later European herbalists used goldenrod preparations to address urinary issues, including promoting urine flow, alleviating inflammation, and supporting the body's natural ability to flush out the urinary tract. The plant is thought to have mild diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties, which may help soothe the lining of the bladder and support general urinary tract health.

Modern scientific research on Canadian goldenrod is limited, but some in vitro and animal studies suggest that extracts of Solidago species possess anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and mild antimicrobial effects. Some European herbal monographs, such as those from the German Commission E, include goldenrod as a supportive treatment for lower urinary tract symptoms and for prevention of kidney stones, but the evidence base is not robust. The majority of support for goldenrod’s use in bladder health is therefore rooted in traditional practice rather than rigorous clinical trials. As a result, while traditional use is well-established, scientific validation remains preliminary and not definitive.
