Synopsis

Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1

Cedrus libani (Lebanon cedar) has a history of traditional use in various cultures, particularly in the Middle East, for a range of medicinal applications. In some traditional systems, extracts or resins from Cedrus species have been used topically for their supposed antiseptic and astringent properties, which could theoretically contribute to the management of external bleeding by promoting wound healing and restricting blood flow. However, documentation specifically citing Cedrus libani for the treatment of external bleeding is scarce and largely anecdotal. Most references pertain to its general use in wound care or as a component in balms and ointments intended to protect or heal the skin. There is minimal scientific research directly supporting its efficacy for hemostasis (stopping bleeding), and virtually no clinical trials exist. Thus, while some traditional uses may mention its application in wound care, the evidence is weak, fragmentary, and lacks scientific validation.
