Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) has a long history of traditional use in various cultures, particularly in Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, where it is believed to support blood purification and circulation. Traditional healers have used coriander seeds and leaves to help with conditions thought to involve the blood, such as detoxification and improving blood flow. However, the direct scientific evidence linking coriander to specific improvements in blood health (such as increasing hemoglobin levels, supporting red blood cell production, or treating anemia) is limited and not robustly validated by clinical trials. Most modern research on coriander focuses on its antioxidant properties, potential to lower blood sugar and cholesterol, and anti-inflammatory effects. While these actions can have indirect benefits for cardiovascular health, they do not equate to direct support of the blood system as traditionally claimed. Therefore, coriander's use for the blood body system is primarily justified by tradition, with only weak or indirect scientific evidence available at this time.
