Clerodendrum indicum, commonly known as Turk's Turban or "Bharangi" in Ayurvedic medicine, has a longstanding history of use in traditional medicine for various skin conditions, including boils. In Ayurveda, the plant is considered to possess anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and wound-healing properties. Its leaves and roots are often used as poultices or topical applications to reduce swelling, pain, and infection in cases of boils and other skin eruptions. Historical texts and ethnobotanical surveys report its use by local healers in India and Southeast Asia for treating skin infections, abscesses, and related disorders.

Scientific validation for its efficacy in treating boils is limited. Some in vitro studies have indicated that extracts of Clerodendrum indicum possess antibacterial activity against common skin pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, which is frequently implicated in the development of boils. Additionally, preliminary pharmacological studies have shown anti-inflammatory effects in animal models. However, there is a lack of robust clinical trials or comprehensive phytochemical analyses specifically targeting its use for boils.
