Synopsis
Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 2
Miroestrol is a phytoestrogenic compound found primarily in the plant Pueraria mirifica, which has been used in traditional Thai medicine for various purposes, including as a folk remedy for promoting breast enlargement and supporting female reproductive health. The traditional use is largely based on the observation that phytoestrogens can mimic some effects of estrogen in the body, potentially leading to increased breast tissue growth. However, scientific evidence supporting the efficacy and safety of miroestrol for breast enhancement is limited. Some in vitro and animal studies have demonstrated estrogenic activity, but well-designed clinical trials in humans are scarce and results are inconclusive. Most available human data come from small-scale studies or anecdotal reports, which are insufficient to establish effectiveness or safety profiles. Regulatory bodies generally do not recognize miroestrol-containing supplements as effective or safe for breast enhancement. Therefore, while the use of miroestrol to support the breasts body system is justified by tradition, the scientific evidence remains weak, and further research is needed.
