Evidence supporting the use of: Testolone
For the health condition: Broken Bones
Synopsis
Source of validity: Scientific
Rating (out of 5): 2
Testolone (RAD-140) is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) that has been investigated for its potential effects on bone health, including the treatment or support of broken bones. The scientific rationale for its use lies in the role of androgens in promoting bone density and facilitating bone healing. Preclinical studies in animal models have shown that SARMs, including Testolone, can increase bone mineral density and improve bone strength, suggesting a potential benefit in fracture healing and osteoporosis. For example, a study in ovariectomized rats demonstrated that RAD-140 could prevent bone loss and improve bone mechanical properties. However, human clinical data are extremely limited. There are no published, peer-reviewed clinical trials directly examining the efficacy of Testolone in treating or accelerating the healing of broken bones in humans. Its use in this context remains experimental and is not approved by regulatory authorities. Most of the evidence comes from animal models and theoretical mechanisms based on androgen action on bone tissue. Therefore, while there is a scientific basis for interest in Testolone for bone repair, the current level of evidence supporting its use for broken bones in clinical practice is low (rated 2/5), and more robust human studies are needed to establish safety and efficacy.
