Rating (out of 5): 3

Tylophorine is an alkaloid compound derived from the plant Tylophora indica, which has a history of use in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for respiratory conditions such as asthma and bronchitis. Scientifically, several preclinical studies have demonstrated that tylophorine and related alkaloids possess anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and bronchodilatory properties. For instance, animal studies and limited in vitro research indicate that tylophorine can inhibit the release of inflammatory mediators and suppress immune cell activation involved in airway inflammation. Some early clinical trials, primarily conducted in India, have reported symptomatic improvement in asthma patients treated with Tylophora leaf extracts compared to placebo, although these studies often had small sample sizes and methodological limitations.

Despite these promising findings, large-scale, well-controlled human clinical trials are lacking. There are also concerns regarding potential side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, and gastrointestinal discomfort, which have been reported in some studies. In summary, the use of tylophorine to support the bronchial body system has a foundation in both traditional use and preliminary scientific research, but the current level of evidence is moderate (rated 3 out of 5) and not sufficient for unequivocal endorsement without further rigorous clinical validation.
