Mountain Bluebells (Mertensia ciliata), also known as Tall Bluebells, have a history of use among some Native American tribes for various ailments, including as a topical application for bruises and minor wounds. The traditional use typically involved crushing the leaves or flowers to create a poultice that was then applied directly to the affected area. However, the documentation of this use is relatively sparse, with most records coming from ethnobotanical surveys and anecdotal accounts rather than detailed pharmacological studies.

There is currently little to no scientific research validating the efficacy of Mountain Bluebells for treating bruises.
