Preclinical studies (animal models and cell cultures) have shown that ketogenic diets can decrease tumor growth in some cancer types and may reduce inflammation and muscle wasting (cachexia) associated with cancer and its treatment. Some small clinical trials and case reports have reported improved quality of life, reduced fatigue, and better tolerance to standard treatments. However, results are mixed, and not all cancer types respond similarly.
