Isoquercetin is a flavonoid glycoside derived from quercetin, commonly found in many fruits and vegetables. Its use to support the capillary system is primarily based on its bioactive properties, particularly its antioxidant and vasoprotective effects. Several in vitro and animal studies have demonstrated that isoquercetin can help stabilize capillary walls by reducing oxidative stress and inhibiting enzymes that degrade connective tissue, such as hyaluronidase and collagenase. Additionally, isoquercetin has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties, which may further protect capillaries from damage associated with chronic inflammation.

Some clinical evidence supports the use of related flavonoids (like diosmin and rutin) in the management of chronic venous insufficiency and capillary fragility, but direct high-quality human trials specifically for isoquercetin are limited. However, a few small human studies and reviews suggest that isoquercetin supplementation can improve endothelial function and reduce markers of vascular inflammation, which are relevant to capillary health. Overall, while the mechanistic and preclinical data are persuasive, more robust and targeted clinical trials are needed to conclusively establish isoquercetin’s efficacy for capillary support in humans. The evidence is stronger than tradition alone, but not as strong as for some more extensively studied flavonoids.
