Nattokinase is an enzyme extracted from natto, a traditional Japanese fermented soybean food. It has been studied for its fibrinolytic (clot-dissolving) properties and is often marketed as beneficial for cardiovascular and circulatory health. In terms of capillary support, some small-scale studies and animal models suggest that nattokinase may help improve blood flow and reduce blood viscosity by breaking down fibrin, a protein involved in blood clotting. There is also preliminary evidence that nattokinase supplementation may help reduce blood pressure and support vascular health, which indirectly benefits the microcirculation including capillaries. However, direct evidence specifically targeting capillary structure or function in humans is limited. Most clinical research focuses on broader cardiovascular endpoints rather than capillary integrity or specific microvascular outcomes. Overall, while nattokinase shows promise for supporting vascular health, the scientific evidence directly supporting its specific use for capillary health is currently modest and not robustly established.
