Synopsis

Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1

Caesalpinia crista (also known as Fever Nut or Kuberakshi) is traditionally used in Ayurvedic and other traditional medicine systems for a variety of ailments, including as a general tonic and for fever, inflammation, and digestive issues. Its use for chest pain, however, is not a primary or well-documented indication in the classical Ayurvedic texts. Some ethnobotanical surveys and traditional practitioners have mentioned its use for symptoms that might be interpreted as chest discomfort or related to heart health, but these uses are not widespread or centrally featured in most traditional pharmacopoeias. There is currently a lack of robust clinical or preclinical scientific studies specifically evaluating Caesalpinia crista for the treatment or management of chest pain (angina or non-cardiac chest pain). The evidence for its efficacy in this context is therefore very weak and based largely on anecdotal or secondary traditional uses, rather than any controlled studies or pharmacological data. Most available research focuses on its anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, and antipyretic activities rather than cardiovascular effects. In conclusion, while there is a minor traditional basis for its use in chest pain, the evidence is sparse and not strongly supported by either classical texts or modern research.
