Some in vitro studies have suggested that extracts from Artemisia species may inhibit the replication of certain viruses, including influenza and coronaviruses. For example, artemisinin and related compounds have shown antiviral activity in laboratory settings. However, clinical evidence in humans specifically supporting the use of Artemisia for the common cold is limited. Most studies have focused on malaria or other viral infections, and robust clinical trials for colds are lacking.
