Methylliberine, also known as Dynamine™, is a purine alkaloid structurally similar to caffeine and theacrine. Its use for supporting concentration is grounded in its purported stimulant-like effects, which are hypothesized to influence neurotransmitter activity, particularly adenosine receptors, thereby promoting alertness and cognitive function. However, the scientific evidence specifically evaluating methylliberine's effects on concentration in humans is limited.

A handful of small human studies and several animal studies suggest that methylliberine may acutely increase energy, mood, and focus, especially when combined with caffeine or theacrine. For example, a 2020 study published in Nutrients found that a combination of methylliberine and theacrine with caffeine improved subjective feelings of alertness and reduced fatigue in healthy adults, but direct measures of concentration or cognitive performance were not the primary endpoints. Most available data are from industry-sponsored studies with small sample sizes and often lack independent replication.

There is currently insufficient high-quality, peer-reviewed evidence demonstrating that methylliberine alone significantly improves concentration or cognitive performance in healthy individuals. Its popularity in nootropic and energy supplements is largely based on its structural similarity to other well-known stimulants and preliminary research. More rigorous clinical trials are needed to establish its efficacy and safety for this specific indication.
