Historical records and ethnobotanical sources sometimes mention its use for stimulating appetite, alleviating bloating, and improving general digestive health. However, specific references to its use in treating constipation, particularly in children, are sparse and not well-documented in classical texts. Most references to galangal for constipation are anecdotal or part of broader recommendations for digestive tonics, with little information on pediatric use.
