Phellodendron amurense (Amur cork tree) has a long history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), where its bark (Huang Bai) is mainly employed for its purported anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and heat-clearing effects. While not a primary herb for constipation in classic TCM formulations, it occasionally appears in multi-herb combinations intended to address digestive complaints, including constipation, especially when associated with "damp-heat" in the intestines.
