"Polymorpha" is an ambiguous term, as it could refer to several plant species (for example, Marchantia polymorpha, Polygala polymorpha, or others), but there is no widely recognized medicinal plant simply called "Polymorpha" in major pharmacopeias or traditional medicine literature. However, some species with "polymorpha" in their names—such as Polygala polymorpha—are related to the Polygala genus, which has a long history of use in traditional medicine for respiratory conditions, including dry cough. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), for example, uses Polygala tenuifolia (Yuan Zhi) as an expectorant and for cough relief, suggesting that related species may have been used similarly in folk medicine, though direct documentation for "Polymorpha" is sparse. There is little direct scientific evidence for the efficacy of "Polymorpha" species for dry cough; most available studies focus on other, better-known species within the Polygala genus.
