Evidence supporting the use of: Heal-all
For the health condition: Debility
Synopsis
Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1
Heal-All (Prunella vulgaris), also known as self-heal, has a long-standing history of use in traditional herbal medicine, particularly within European and Asian cultures. In these traditions, Heal-All was valued for its general tonic properties and was believed to help with “debility”—a term historically used to describe general weakness or lack of vitality. Herbalists often recommended Heal-All in teas or infusions as a supportive remedy for those recovering from illness or suffering from chronic fatigue, drawing from its reputed ability to “restore strength.” However, these uses are based primarily on anecdotal reports and traditional doctrine rather than rigorous scientific evaluation. Modern clinical research has examined Heal-All for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, but there is no high-quality scientific evidence demonstrating its effectiveness in treating or supporting general debility or weakness in humans. Thus, while its use for debility is justified by tradition, the actual evidence supporting its efficacy for this purpose is very weak and largely historical rather than empirical.
