Morinda, particularly Morinda citrifolia (commonly known as Noni), has a long history of use in traditional medicine systems, especially in Polynesian, Southeast Asian, and Indian cultures. It has been applied topically and sometimes ingested to address a variety of skin ailments, including dermatitis, wounds, and inflammation. Traditional practices often cited its purported anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties as reasons for its use in skin conditions. However, scientific evidence specifically supporting Morinda's efficacy in treating dermatitis is limited. Some in vitro and animal studies have suggested that extracts from Morinda citrifolia may possess anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties, which could theoretically benefit dermatitis.
