The oil is rich in alkylglycerols, squalene, and omega-3 fatty acids, which are believed to have anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. However, scientific studies directly investigating the efficacy of shark liver oil specifically for dermatitis are scarce. Most available research focuses on its general effects on immune function or its use in wound healing and skin barrier repair, rather than on dermatitis itself. There is some preliminary evidence suggesting that components like squalene may help moisturize the skin and reduce inflammation, potentially offering symptomatic relief in inflammatory skin conditions. Nonetheless, these findings are not robustly supported by high-quality clinical trials targeting dermatitis.
