Kokilaksha (Asteracantha longifolia, also known as Hygrophila auriculata) is a plant widely used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. Its application for dizziness is primarily rooted in the traditional system of Indian medicine. In Ayurveda, dizziness (often referred to as "Bhrama") is considered to result from imbalances in the doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta. Kokilaksha is valued for its purported properties as a nervine tonic and its ability to strengthen the nervous system and improve circulation, which are believed to help alleviate symptoms like dizziness and vertigo. However, the traditional texts mention Kokilaksha more frequently for urinary and liver disorders, as well as general rejuvenation, rather than specifically for dizziness.

On the scientific front, there is a paucity of direct research linking Kokilaksha to the treatment or management of dizziness. Most pharmacological studies focus on its diuretic, hepatoprotective, and antioxidant properties. There is indirect support for its use in dizziness if the symptom is secondary to conditions like anemia or general weakness, for which Kokilaksha is sometimes recommended in Ayurveda. Nonetheless, contemporary clinical trials or mechanistic studies addressing its efficacy in treating dizziness specifically are lacking. Thus, while its use for dizziness is supported by tradition, the strength of this evidence remains moderate to low, and scientific validation is absent.
