Morinda refers to a genus of plants, with Morinda citrifolia (commonly known as noni) being the most well-known species used in traditional medicine. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Morinda officinalis (commonly called "Bajitian") is sometimes cited for its tonic properties, particularly for supporting kidney yang, strengthening bones and tendons, and addressing issues such as impotence, weakness, and lower back pain. Dizziness can be a symptom associated with kidney deficiency syndromes in TCM, and thus Morinda officinalis might be included in herbal formulas aimed at treating dizziness of this specific traditional etiology. However, there is very limited scientific evidence supporting the use of Morinda species for dizziness. Most contemporary research on Morinda focuses on its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and adaptogenic properties, with little to no clinical research directly addressing dizziness as an outcome. The traditional application is therefore based on TCM theory rather than modern scientific validation. As such, while Morinda is occasionally used in traditional herbal formulations for symptoms that may include dizziness (usually in the context of other TCM diagnoses), its use is not strongly supported by scientific research, and the overall level of evidence is weak.
