Milk protein is scientifically validated to some extent for supporting energy, particularly in the context of sports nutrition and recovery from fatigue. Milk protein, primarily in the forms of casein and whey, provides essential amino acids that are necessary for muscle repair and growth. Consuming milk protein can indirectly support energy levels by promoting muscle recovery and reducing fatigue after exercise, which can enhance overall physical performance and endurance. Several studies have shown that protein supplementation, particularly in combination with carbohydrates, can improve post-exercise recovery and may help reduce perceived exertion and tiredness. However, the direct effect of milk protein on energy (in terms of reducing general fatigue or boosting energy for non-athletes) is less well-substantiated. Most scientific support focuses on its role in muscle protein synthesis and recovery rather than direct energy production. Nevertheless, as protein is a macronutrient contributing to overall caloric intake, adequate protein (including milk protein) is important for maintaining energy balance, especially in active individuals. There is moderate-quality evidence from randomized controlled trials supporting its benefit in athletic and physically active populations, but its role in treating general lack of energy in the broader population remains less clear.
