Morinda, particularly Morinda citrifolia (commonly known as noni), has a long history of use in traditional medicine systems throughout Polynesia, Southeast Asia, and parts of India. Traditionally, various parts of the Morinda plant have been used as a general tonic believed to boost energy, increase stamina, and combat fatigue. In Polynesian cultures, noni juice has been consumed for its purported revitalizing effects, often as part of remedies for general debility or to support convalescence. However, scientific evidence supporting Morinda’s efficacy for increasing energy or combating fatigue is limited and generally of low quality. A few small clinical trials and animal studies suggest potential anti-fatigue or adaptogenic effects, possibly due to antioxidant activity or modulation of inflammatory pathways. These results, however, are preliminary and not robust enough to form a consensus. No large, high-quality randomized controlled trials definitively support Morinda’s use for energy enhancement in humans. Therefore, while Morinda is traditionally used to support energy, modern scientific validation is weak, and claims should be viewed with caution.
