Similarly, a 2016 systematic review in "BMC Oral Health" concluded that Aloe vera has a positive effect in reducing gingival inflammation, although it noted the need for larger, high-quality studies to confirm these findings. The proposed mechanisms include inhibition of bacterial growth, reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and promotion of tissue repair. While Aloe vera is traditionally used for various oral ailments, including mouth ulcers and minor burns, its specific use for gum health is increasingly supported by scientific evidence, though not yet at the highest level of clinical endorsement.
