Jaboticaba (Myrciaria cauliflora) is a fruit native to Brazil and has a long history of use in traditional South American medicine. Its use for supporting gum health and the oral cavity primarily stems from folk practices, where the fruit and its extracts have been employed for their purported anti-inflammatory and astringent properties. In Brazil, decoctions made from the fruit peel or bark have sometimes been used as a topical rinse or gargle for conditions such as sore throats, mouth ulcers, and gum inflammation.
