Minerals play a crucial role in maintaining healthy hair, and their use to support the hair body system is supported by scientific evidence. Several minerals are essential for hair growth and health, including zinc, iron, selenium, and copper. For instance, zinc is involved in DNA and protein synthesis, both of which are necessary for hair follicle function and growth. Deficiencies in zinc have been linked to hair loss and poor hair health. Iron is another mineral that is critical for hair health, particularly in women; iron deficiency is a well-established cause of diffuse hair loss (telogen effluvium). Selenium and copper also contribute to hair pigmentation and structural integrity.

Numerous clinical studies have examined the relationship between mineral status and hair health. For example, a 2013 review published in the journal Dermatology and Therapy concluded that deficiencies in key minerals are associated with hair shedding and thinning. However, supplementation is only effective when a deficiency is present; excessive intake of minerals can be harmful and may even exacerbate hair loss. Therefore, while the scientific evidence supports the use of certain minerals for hair health, this is primarily in the context of correcting deficiencies rather than as a general means of enhancing hair growth or quality in healthy individuals.
