Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria) has a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine, particularly in Europe. Folk medicine references from the Middle Ages onward mention agrimony as a remedy for a variety of ailments, including headaches. Its use was often in the form of teas or poultices. However, these recommendations were largely based on empirical tradition and not on systematic research or clinical trials.

Modern scientific evidence supporting the use of agrimony specifically for headache relief is lacking. While the plant contains tannins, flavonoids, and other phytochemicals that have mild anti-inflammatory and astringent properties, no well-controlled studies have demonstrated efficacy for headache treatment. The traditional use may have been influenced by the plant's general application for pain or its soothing properties in other conditions, but this does not equate to proven benefit for headaches. The evidence rating is therefore low, as support relies almost exclusively on historical texts and anecdotal reports rather than scientific validation.
