Its use for headache relief is primarily based on traditional medicine texts, where it is included in various formulations to "clear heat," "remove toxicity," or address symptoms thought to be related to headache, such as inflammation or congestion. However, there is a lack of strong scientific evidence supporting the efficacy of Patrinia for treating headaches. Modern pharmacological studies on Patrinia have focused mainly on its potential anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anti-tumor properties, rather than direct effects on headache mechanisms. While some animal studies suggest possible central nervous system effects, these findings have not been validated in human clinical trials for headache treatment.
