Synopsis

Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1

Hemp Agrimony (Eupatorium cannabinum) has a history of use in traditional European herbal medicine, where it was employed for a variety of ailments, including as a general tonic, for liver and gallbladder support, and as a diuretic. There is limited evidence suggesting its use in folk medicine for headache relief, particularly in the context of tension headaches, but these references are sparse and not well-documented. No well-conducted clinical trials or scientific studies directly support the use of Hemp Agrimony for tension-type headaches. The plant contains several bioactive compounds, such as sesquiterpene lactones and flavonoids, but there is no direct pharmacological evidence linking these constituents to headache relief. Most modern sources do not list Hemp Agrimony as a standard remedy for headaches.

Given the absence of robust scientific evidence and only a minor presence in traditional use for headaches, the support for its application in tension headache management is minimal. The tradition-based evidence is weak, and practitioners are generally advised to consider other, more substantiated remedies for tension headaches.
