Pagoda Tree (Sophora japonica), particularly its dried flower buds (known as "Huai Hua" in traditional Chinese medicine), has a long history of use in the management of hemorrhoids. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Pagoda Tree flower is prized for its purported abilities to clear heat, cool the blood, and stop bleeding. It is commonly included in herbal formulas intended to treat bleeding hemorrhoids and to alleviate symptoms such as swelling, pain, and itching. The traditional use is supported by centuries of empirical observation and is referenced in classical TCM texts.
However, scientific validation for its effectiveness remains limited. Some in vitro and animal studies suggest that Pagoda Tree flower extracts possess anti-inflammatory and hemostatic (bleeding-stopping) properties, which could theoretically benefit hemorrhoid sufferers.
