Traditionally, tiger nuts have been consumed to alleviate digestive discomfort, including indigestion, flatulence, and diarrhea. The basis for these uses lies in the tuber's high fiber content, which is thought to promote bowel regularity and support gut health. Additionally, tiger nuts contain resistant starch, a prebiotic fiber that may nourish beneficial gut bacteria, potentially aiding digestion indirectly. Some ethnobotanical reports also mention the use of tiger nut milk in soothing the digestive tract and relieving minor gastrointestinal symptoms.
