Its galls are often prescribed for respiratory ailments and infections, including coughs, bronchitis, and sore throat. The traditional rationale is based on its perceived antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and immune-modulatory properties. In Ayurvedic medicine, the galls are considered to have "krimighna" (antimicrobial) and "kasahara" (cough relieving) actions, which are thought to help combat various infections.
