T4D-myoviridae refers to a group within the Myoviridae family of bacteriophages, with T4 phage being one of the most well-studied members. Bacteriophages such as T4 have been extensively researched for their ability to infect and lyse specific bacterial pathogens, making them promising agents for treating bacterial infections—a field known as phage therapy. The scientific validation for the use of T4 and related myoviridae phages is robust in laboratory and animal models, demonstrating efficacy against a variety of bacterial pathogens, including multidrug-resistant strains such as Escherichia coli. Clinical validation is growing, with several case reports and small trials showing that phage therapy can be effective where antibiotics have failed, especially in the context of chronic or resistant infections.

However, while the evidence base for T4-myoviridae is strong in preclinical settings, large-scale randomized controlled trials in humans remain limited.
