Millet seed, a staple grain in many cultures, has gained attention for its potential anti-inflammatory properties. Scientific evidence suggests that certain bioactive compounds in millet, such as phenolic acids, flavonoids, and fibers, may contribute to its anti-inflammatory effects. Several in vitro and animal studies have demonstrated that millet extracts can inhibit inflammatory mediators, such as nitric oxide and pro-inflammatory cytokines, in cell models and rodent systems. For example, studies published in Food Chemistry and Journal of Food Science and Technology have highlighted the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of millet polyphenols, which may help moderate inflammation in the body.

However, human clinical trials directly evaluating the effect of millet consumption on inflammatory conditions are limited. Most of the available data come from laboratory or animal studies, and while these results are promising, they do not provide robust, direct evidence for therapeutic use in humans.
