Amino acid blends or complexes are often used to support injury recovery due to their fundamental role in muscle protein synthesis and tissue repair. Scientific evidence suggests that essential amino acids (EAAs), particularly branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) like leucine, isoleucine, and valine, play a crucial role in stimulating muscle protein synthesis and minimizing muscle breakdown, which is particularly important during recovery from injuries involving muscle, tendons, or ligaments.

Several clinical studies have demonstrated that supplementation with amino acids can help preserve lean body mass and promote recovery in individuals with injuries, especially when immobilization or reduced activity leads to muscle atrophy. For example, research published in the Journal of Physiology (2013) and American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (2017) shows that amino acid supplementation can attenuate muscle loss during periods of inactivity or rehabilitation. Additionally, some evidence supports improved post-surgical recovery and wound healing, particularly in elderly or malnourished patients.

However, while the evidence is promising, it is not uniformly strong for all types of injuries or populations.
