Bayleaf (Laurus nobilis) has a long-standing traditional use in various cultures as a remedy for sleep disturbances, including insomnia. In traditional herbal medicine, particularly in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions, bayleaf is sometimes used as part of herbal infusions, teas, or aromatherapy preparations to promote relaxation and sleep. The rationale is often based on the belief that bayleaf's essential oils and mild sedative properties can help calm the nervous system.
However, scientific validation for bayleaf's efficacy in treating insomnia is minimal.
