Vine tea, also known as Ampelopsis grossedentata, has a history of use in traditional Chinese medicine, where it is consumed as a herbal infusion. Traditionally, vine tea is believed to have benefits for the digestive system, including alleviating symptoms such as indigestion and gastritis. The main active component in vine tea is dihydromyricetin (DHM), which is recognized for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. However, most of the available research on vine tea focuses on its potential antioxidant, hepatoprotective, and anti-alcohol effects, with limited direct studies on its effects on the intestinal system in humans. Some animal studies and in vitro experiments suggest that vine tea extracts may help modulate gut microbiota and reduce intestinal inflammation, but these findings are preliminary and not yet validated in large-scale human clinical trials. As such, the primary justification for using vine tea to support the intestinal system comes from traditional practices rather than robust scientific evidence.
