In TCM, this insect is believed to "invigorate blood," "remove blood stasis," and "promote the repair of tissues," which are sometimes interpreted as relating to the support of the Kidney system—particularly when addressing chronic conditions, injuries, or deficiencies thought to involve "Kidney essence" or function. The Kidney, in TCM theory, is central to vitality, longevity, and the regeneration of tissues, though this does not directly equate to the anatomical kidneys in Western medicine. There is limited scientific research on Eupolyphaga sinensis specifically for kidney health. Some modern pharmacological studies have investigated its effects on blood circulation, anti-fibrotic properties, and potential anti-inflammatory actions, but direct evidence for kidney support or renal protection remains scant and mostly preclinical.
