Synopsis

Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 2

Almond mushroom (Agaricus blazei Murill), also known as the "Brazilian mushroom" or "Himematsutake," has a long history of use in traditional medicine, particularly in Brazil and Japan. Its use to support the lymphatic system is primarily based on traditional claims that it can help "cleanse the blood," "detoxify the body," and bolster immune defenses, which are often associated in traditional systems with lymphatic health. Some laboratory and animal studies have suggested that compounds in Almond mushroom, such as beta-glucans and other polysaccharides, may modulate immune cell activity or reduce certain inflammatory markers. However, there is no direct clinical evidence demonstrating a specific benefit to the human lymphatic system, and rigorous human trials are lacking. The majority of the available evidence pertains to overall immune support rather than targeted lymphatic effects. Therefore, while Almond mushroom is traditionally used for broad immune and health support—including claims related to lymphatics—the scientific evidence specific to the lymphatic system is weak and indirect.
