Kachnar (Bauhinia variegata) is a tree native to South Asia, and its various parts—especially the bark and flowers—are widely used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. In Ayurveda, Kachnar is believed to be particularly effective for managing disorders related to the lymphatic system, such as glandular swellings (lymphadenopathy), goiters, and other conditions involving abnormal tissue growths or blockages in the lymphatic channels. The herb is said to possess properties that help “cleanse” the lymphatic system, reduce inflammation, and promote the healthy functioning of lymph nodes.

While these uses are well-documented in Ayurvedic texts and have a long tradition of application in India, the scientific evidence supporting Kachnar's efficacy for lymphatic health is limited. Some laboratory and animal studies have shown that extracts of Bauhinia variegata possess anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and potential antitumor activities. However, these findings do not directly validate its use for lymphatic disorders in humans, nor do they specifically address lymphatic system modulation. Thus, current support for Kachnar in maintaining or supporting lymphatic health is primarily rooted in traditional practice rather than modern scientific validation.
