Specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs), including resolvins, protectins, and maresins, are bioactive lipid molecules derived from omega-3 fatty acids. There is emerging scientific evidence indicating that SPMs play an important role in the resolution of inflammation and the restoration of tissue homeostasis. The lymphatic system is essential for immune surveillance, removal of interstitial fluid, and transport of immune cells; it also helps clear inflammatory mediators from tissues.

Preclinical studies have shown that SPMs can enhance lymphatic vessel function and promote the drainage of inflammatory exudates. For example, SPMs have been observed to stimulate lymphangiogenesis (the formation of new lymphatic vessels) and improve lymphatic contractility in animal models. This suggests a mechanistic link between SPMs and lymphatic system support, particularly in the context of resolving chronic inflammation or edema.

However, while these findings are promising, clinical data in humans are limited. Most of the supporting evidence comes from cell culture or animal studies, with few direct clinical trials examining SPM supplementation and lymphatic function in humans. As such, there is moderate scientific rationale for SPMs supporting the lymphatic system, but more robust human research is needed to confirm efficacy and establish dosing protocols.
