Terpenoids, also known as isoprenoids, are a large and diverse class of naturally occurring organic chemicals derived from terpenes. Their use to support the lymphatic system is primarily rooted in traditional herbal medicine. Various plants rich in terpenoids, such as frankincense (Boswellia), myrrh, and certain essential oils, have been used in traditional systems (e.g., Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine) to promote lymphatic drainage, reduce swelling, and enhance detoxification. The rationale is often based on their purported anti-inflammatory and circulatory benefits, which are believed to help maintain lymphatic health.

However, scientific validation specifically linking terpenoids to direct lymphatic system support is limited. While some studies have demonstrated anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immune-modulating effects of certain terpenoids, there is little rigorous research directly measuring their impact on lymphatic flow or function in humans. Most evidence remains indirect or extrapolated from broader immunological or anti-inflammatory studies. Therefore, while terpenoids are traditionally used for lymphatic health, robust clinical evidence supporting their effectiveness for this specific body system is lacking.
