Rating (out of 5): 2

Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) has a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for supporting general health and vitality, including immune system enhancement. Its use for cancer, including lymphoma, is primarily rooted in traditional practices rather than modern scientific validation. In TCM, reishi is considered a "tonic" for promoting longevity and resilience, and has been used as an adjunct in cancer care to improve well-being, reduce fatigue, and bolster immune function. Some early laboratory studies and small clinical trials have investigated reishi’s possible anti-tumor and immunomodulatory effects, showing that polysaccharides and triterpenes found in reishi may stimulate immune cells and potentially inhibit cancer cell proliferation. However, these studies are limited, often not specific to lymphoma, and generally lack rigorous, large-scale clinical evidence directly demonstrating benefit in lymphoma patients. No major medical guidelines recommend reishi as a treatment for lymphoma. Most of the support comes from its traditional use and preliminary evidence suggesting an immune-boosting effect. Patients considering reishi as a complementary therapy should consult with their healthcare providers, as evidence for its efficacy in lymphoma remains weak and its interactions with conventional treatments are not fully understood.
